CURRENT STATUS
The beatles disbanded in 1970.
Paul has been on the road with the The Back In The World tour in 2003 and the 04 Summer tour. Both concert tours played mainly European venues.
A new book detailing life on the road with Paul McCartney during his recent Back In The World Tour was released in 2004 including the excellent photography of Bill Bernstein.
The just-released book carries a cumbersome title, "Each One Believing: On Stage, Off Stage and Backstage" (Chronicle Books, 207 pages, $35), but provides a fascinating, inside glimpse of what it takes to mount a massive world tour seen by 2 million people in 16 countries.
Ringo Starr releases new book 11/30/04
Whenever John, Paul, or George went on a trip, they would send Ringo a postcard. Now, for the first time, Ringo Starr is opening his private archive to share this delightful and very intimate correspondence in a book entitled "Postcards from the Boys". (about 16 bucks from Amazon.com)
Each postcard is a warm and personal snapshot of life in (and after) The Beatles. The 51 postcards -- many of which are covered in whimsical drawings -- are colorfully reproduced front and back and include Ringo's liner note commentary.
Ringo has been organizing all-star (or "All-Starr") bands and touring regularly with them Since 1989.
The 2003 version and the 8th band since 1989 includes John Waite of The Babys and Bad English; Colin Hay of Men At Work; Paul Carrack of Ace, Squeeze and Mike & the Mechanics; Sheila E of Prince and her successful solo career, and Mark Rivera, who is best known for playing with Billy Joel. These are not the huge megastar names that have populated past All-Starr Bands, but they're certainly all capable musicians and prominent figures from the 1980s music scene.
John Lennon was murdered 12/8/80 in New York City, shot at point blank range by David Chapman. George Harrison died of brain cancer 11/29/01 in Los Angeles California.
